Likewise addressing with everyday holidaymakers, nearly all travel agents feature a independent section dedicated to preparing travelling arrangements for business organisations and a few travel agents specialize in commercial and business travel exclusively. While the description implies, a travel agents primary role is to work as an agent, that embodies, merchandising travel products and services on behalf of a provider. Therefore, contrary to different retail businesses, they don't hold stock in hand. A package vacation or a ticket is not bought from a provider unless a client calls for that purchase. The vacation or ticket is issued to the travel agent at a discount rate. The benefit is hence the remainder between the publicised price which the client pays and the discounted price at which is provided to the travel agent.

Hi all, my name is Ruth but you can call me Rufus, everyone does and has done since I was about 17 and hence my username. I live in London although I am Scottish and long to be back in the highlands. I have worked in Business Travel for 12 years but have recently left and am currently making cupcakes and other goodies to order. I've been travelling since I was in nappies (my dad was a travel agent and had his own company) and have enjoyed my travels at best when I'm on my own and have an opportunity to do exactly as I want, see the things I want to see and meet new people wherever I am. I am however a great travelling companion as I never flap, don't get stressed and am very flexible and patient with less experienced travellers. I'm not keen on business travellers and never much enjoyed travelling for business myself, strange I ended up in that industry but hey, it's a funny old world and I have made some amazing friends along the way.

Retailers such as Saks , Herms (), and LVMH Mot Hennessy Louis Vuitton () reported sales gains in the first quarter as the superrich took up spending again. By the end of 2010, global sales of luxury goods should be up 4 percent year-on-year, compared with the 8 percent drop seen in 2009, say projections from consulting firm Bain & Co.

Do you always plan your trip or just let the road guide you? 20100523074822
For my very first trip abroad, I planned hotels, fuel stops, routes, restaurants, driving times, etc. Of course, I saw something fascinating on the first day, and then was on my own. And I liked it. I now plan as little as possible. Other than the flights, I've winged it since in : US (Route 66 and PCH), Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand/Indonesia, Australia, Caribbean island hopping, Morocco, Egypt, and most of Europe. For 25+ years it made a good break from the rigid planning of business travel. I've learned that if things go tits up (say fog or ice block a mountain road) and you have low expectations - you are usually pleasantly surprised by how well things turn out. Difference between being a traveller and a tourist ? Peter.

What type of Book do you take on Holiday? 20100504073207
For vacation, I like a nice thick book with lots of plot, not too many characters, and absolutely nothing to do with the location. I want something I can pick up and get back into easily. Not too interesting though - I don't want to spend my vacation reading. Actually, I do, but it is a bit wasteful, isn't it? For business travel, I like a slim novel, with lyrical prose, with very introspective characters. They are generally highly over-rated and put me right to sleep. [I also do a lot a business reading - regulations, etc. - when traveling on business.].
